VidGuard includes a CAD (Computer Aided Design)
tool that lets you configure your security system
exactly to your requirements.
To use the CAD tool, you lay out icons
representing the components of your video security
system, e.g. video camera, recorder, video motion
detector. You then connect these components with
links to tell VidGuard how security information flows
through the system. The CAD tool is similar in
concept to patch panel, except all the connections are inside your PC.
The CAD tools lets you quickly and easily set up
the configuration of your security system, and you can re-use the
same design in many similar installations.
A simple example security diagram:.

The thick green links carry data and the thin
black links carry triggers.
Video from the Video Camera icon flows to the Video
Motion icon (1) to detect moving objects, to
Event Storage (2) to store the video
when motion is detected, and to Browser (3)
so the operator can view live video from the camera.
The trigger output from the Video Motion icon
flows to the Sound icon (4) to
activate an audible alarm when a moving object is
detected, and to the Event Storage icon (5)
to turn on recording also.
VidGuard gives you access to a large, rapidly
growing range of security hardware - you just drag
and drop icons representing the hardware device and
then connect data and trigger control lines. Some of
the security and PC hardware already supported by
